Pearl

Year Eight Program

Our Pearl program is for dancers in year 8 of their academic schooling. Generally, this age group dancer is considered a senior student - we have just separated some classes for 2024.

All of our dancers from Turquoise, Pearl and Diamonds mix together to create the most amazing group of inclusive, kind and senior role models in our dance family.

Dance-wise, our students are progressing, perfecting their craft, and enjoying recreational classes. Those involved in competitions enjoy each live performance, individual or team.

At this age, ballet students are all getting prepared for pointe shoes, and those doing our Dancestepper assistant dance teaching program are growing more confident in their leadership skills every class. We tick lots of boxes this year.

It is such a vital age to be busy.

More importantly, our studio becomes their home. The place they know they belong. Always welcome, always wanted.

They are in their haven, have friends, and do what they love.

Dancers need not have completed prior programs to begin at any level—we welcome them all!

Our Year Eight Pearl Program

Contemporary Program

Our Contemporary Dance Classes for Year 7 Students and above are designed to inspire and challenge senior students, offering a dynamic and expressive exploration of dance that goes beyond traditional boundaries. Our students will explore the fluid and expressive movements that define contemporary dance, emphasising seamless transitions and organic flow. Exploring techniques connecting the body to the floor fosters a sense of groundedness and stability.

Lyrical Program

Welcome to our Lyrical Dance Classes for Students year seven and above, where emotion takes centre stage, and every movement becomes a poetic expression of the soul! Lyrical dance is a beautiful fusion of ballet, jazz, and contemporary styles, emphasising fluidity, emotion, and storytelling. Our classes are designed to inspire and challenge senior students, offering a space for artistic exploration and personal expression.

Turns/Jumps Program

Welcome to our Turns and Jumps Dance Class for Senior Students, where the thrill of spinning and soaring takes dance to new heights! This specialised class enhances our dancers' technical proficiency and artistry, focusing on the dynamic elements of turns and jumps. Students will dive into the mechanics of spotting, developing the crucial skill of maintaining balance during multiple turns. We explore a variety of turns, from pirouettes to fouetté turns, and refine the technique for each. Working on techniques to achieve height and control in jumps, incorporating exercises that build leg strength and flexibility. Introducing a range of leaps, including grande jeté, tour jeté, and saut de chat, to expand the student’s repertoire.

Acro And Tricks

Gravity takes a backseat, and the dance floor becomes a canvas for breathtaking feats of strength, flexibility, and artistic expression! This specialised class is designed to push the boundaries of movement, combining elements of acrobatics, gymnastics, and dance. Emphasizing the importance of safety and proper technique in acrobatic movements ensures seniors develop a strong foundation for their acro skills. It is a great class to enhance our acro skills class. Teaching students how to seamlessly integrate acro and trick elements into choreography, creating visually stunning and dynamic dance routines.

Jazz Program

Our jazz classes for students year seven and over are designed to explore jazz dance's vibrant and versatile world, incorporating elements of technique, musicality, and performance. Dancers will refine their jazz technique, focusing on isolations and coordination to achieve crisp and precise movements. Our class for this age mixes classic and contemporary jazz styles.

Stretch And Extension Class

This specialised class is designed to focus on enhancing flexibility, improving range of motion, and refining the extension of our dancers. Implementing dynamic stretching techniques to improve flexibility and increase circulation before engaging in static stretches.

Dynamic Stretching: Implementing dynamic stretching techniques to improve flexibility and increase circulation before engaging in static stretches.

Static Stretches: Focusing on targeted static stretches to lengthen muscles and enhance flexibility, particularly in areas crucial for dance movements.

Ballet Program

At CMDA, we follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet Syllabus for Students, where the honoured traditions of classical ballet meet the structured excellence of one of the world's leading ballet training organisations! The RAD syllabus is renowned for its comprehensive and progressive approach, offering a systematic and artistic training program. Our students in Year 7 and above study at their own pace from Intermediate Foundation and above. For 2024, our students will sit exams in Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate and Grade Six.

Pointe Program

If students are at an appropriate level, introducing pointe work further enhances strength, balance, and artistic expression. Incorporating pointe exercises and variations that align with the RAD syllabus guidelines.

Acrobatics and Cheer Classes

Our acrobatics and cheer classes are where the thrill of acrobatics meets the spirit of cheerleading! This program is designed to introduce students to a dynamic combination of tumbling, balancing, and exciting cheer routines. Fundamental tumbling skills, including forward rolls, backward rolls, and cartwheels. Progression to more advanced tumbling elements as students develop strength and coordination.

Acrobatic Skills Class

More specialized, catering to individuals who want to excel in particular acrobatic elements. The class may adapt to participants' skill levels and goals, offering a more individualised learning experience. Our acrobatics Skills Class zeroes in on specific maneuvers, offering a more concentrated and targeted training experience for those looking to master particular acrobatic elements.

Musical Theatre

These classes are designed to develop the skills and techniques required for musical theatre performances, where storytelling is conveyed through a seamless integration of dialogue, music, and choreography. Musical theatre is a fantastic way for us to offer students a well-rounded performing arts education. Our Musical Theatre Classes enhance our student’s acting, singing, and dancing skills.

Tap Program

Where rhythm meets fun, and every step is a beat of excitement! Our senior students very much enjoy our tap classes. Tap offers a dynamic and joyful experience that enhances both their dance skills and love for movement. Tap dance classes are a lively and rhythmic dance form where dancers use their feet to create percussive sounds by striking the floor with tap shoes. These classes offer a unique blend of musicality, coordination, and artistic expression

Competition Class

Our program includes sessions dedicated to creating dynamic and captivating competition routines. Dancers will work with experienced choreographers to develop routines that showcase their technical skills and artistic expression. Training in performance dynamics, including stage presence, projection, and connecting with the audience, will be integrated to elevate the overall quality of their competitive performances. Dancers are encouraged to take responsibility for their roles within the team. Whether it's remembering choreography, being at all classes, supporting a teammate during challenging moves, or ensuring everyone is on the same page, dancers learn that their individual contributions directly impact the team's overall performance.

Saturday Competition Classes

Our Saturday competition dance classes provide a platform for dancers to refine and strengthen/elevate their skills. The combination of rigorous training, choreographic challenges, and the competitive environment contributes to the holistic development of dancers in terms of jumps, turns, body strength, flexibility and athletic development. These classes typically focus on enhancing various aspects of dance technique, including jumps, turns, body strength, and flexibility.

Pearl Fees

At CMDA, we strive to provide exceptional dance instruction and opportunities for growth to all aspiring dancers.

As such, our fee structure reflects our commitment to quality education and a nurturing dance environment. Our fees are designed to be competitive and affordable, ensuring that dance education remains accessible to all.
